SkilledTradesBC has introduced a new Employer Declaration on our customer Portal for all employers of workers in Skilled Trades Certification trades to provide information about their workforce. The information gathered will be used to identify workers and employers in Skilled Trades Certification trades, help us understand more about their existing workforce and provide assistance to those who may need our support in meeting the new requirements.

Skilled Trades Certification Trades

  • Construction Electrician
  • Industrial Electrician
  • Powerline Technician
  • Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic
  • Gasfitter Class A&B
  • Steamfitter / Pipefitter
  • Sheet Metal Worker

If you employ workers in at least one of the Skilled Trades Certification trades above, you will need the following information to complete the Employer Declaration. You can save the Employer Declaration form as a draft and complete it later when all the required information is available.

  • Number of apprentices, their last names, SkilledTradesBC IDs, Trade
  • Number of journeypersons, their last names, email addresses, Certificate Numbers, province they were certified in, Trade
  • Number of Trade Qualifiers, their last names, SkilledTradesBC IDs, Temporary Authorization numbers, Trade
  • Number of Uncertified Experienced Workers, SkilledTradesBC IDs, Temporary Authorization numbers, Trade

If you are not the sponsor of your employees, please have the sponsor name, email address, phone number ready.

STEP 1: Log into the Portal using your login credentials.

STEP 2: The Employer Declaration will be presented as a pop-up box and will identify the Organization’s name. Click ‘Get Started’.

If you are the Primary Contact for multiple organizations, ensure that you complete the Employer Declaration for each organization.

STEP 3: Add Apprentices

Indicate whether you employ apprentices in Skilled Trades Certification trades.

Click on 'Add Apprentice' and provide the apprentice's details using the Look Up tool.

Apprentice’s Last Name and SkilledTradesBC ID must match the information available with SkilledTradesBC.

Indicate if you are the Sponsor for the listed Apprentices.
If you are not the Sponsor, please provide the Sponsor details, if available.

STEP 4: Add Journeypersons

Indicate whether you employ journeypersons in Skilled Trades Certification trades.

Click on ‘Add Journeyperson’ and provide their details.

STEP 5: Add Trade Qualifiers/ Uncertified Experienced Workers.

Indicate whether you employ Trade Qualifiers/ Uncertified Experienced Workers in Skilled Trades Certification trades.

Click on ‘Add Tradesperson’ and provide their details using the Look Up tool.

The individual’s Last Name and SkilledTradesBC ID must match the information available with SkilledTradesBC.

STEP 6: Submit your form.

Click ‘Submit’ after providing all the required information.

Once the Employer Declaration is submitted, it cannot be edited. If you need to make changes after submission, please contact a Skilled Trades Certification Advisor for assistance.

The Employer Declaration is successfully Submitted.

SAVE PROGRESS

At any time during the form, you may save your draft by clicking the Save Progress button. You can then return to complete it later.

RETRIEVE DRAFT

Retrieve the Employer Declaration Draft from the 'My Organizations' tab on the Portal.

Select the Organization’s name.

Expand the ‘Employer Declarations’ tab to view the draft.

Click on the ‘Eye’ icon to view the Employer Declaration draft.

The form can now be reviewed and edited.

Note: Once the Employer Declaration is submitted, it cannot be edited. If you need to make changes after submission, please contact a Skilled Trades Certification Advisor for assistance.
